“What was scattered gathers.
 What is gathered blows away.”

These words of Heraclitus have been continually on my mind for months. They describe the pulsing vitality of the world whose formal natural expressions; microscopic or vast, living or not, are under-laid with patterns, energy, waves and influences unseen in an eternal repetition of expansion and contraction, creation and destruction.
My new series of collagraph and drypoint prints involve as many as 7 plates with up to 19 passes through the press for each print.  While working I thought of each ink layer as growing the piece into a dense and random complexity held within the constant of the square format.
